The certificate is part of the file
An insurance certificate is often a required document, not an optional extra. It usually has to name the applicant, show the cover level and state the period, which must cover the stay.
Check whether the route requires cover from arrival or from the visa start date, and whether a local policy is needed after arrival. The two are not always interchangeable.
Frequently asked questions
Does the policy have to cover the whole period?
On many routes, yes. A short policy can fail even if the cover level is high.
Can I use my home-country policy?
Sometimes, if it meets the required cover and period. Check whether the destination requires a locally authorised insurer.
